In the 5th minute Zeledon Gizon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Urbano Mouricio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Racing de Olavarria's Abelardo Palos got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Eloy Loreto managed to get in a good position for a shot. Racing de Olavarria's supporters rose to their feet, but Eloy Loreto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Paúl Breitner breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Augusto Sarracino kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. Urbano Mouricio stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Higinio Acosta's shot from short distance in the 18th minute. Abelardo Palos struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Paúl Breitner didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Racing de Olavarria. Paúl Breitner took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eloy Loreto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 23 minutes into the match, Gasoducto's goalkeeper Paúl Breitner had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Abelardo Palos. After a defensive mix-up in Gasoducto's zone, Eloy Loreto stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paúl Breitner came out of the goal and Eloy Loreto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Racing de Olavarria getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Augusto Sarracino hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Higinio Acosta's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Urbano Mouricio was relentless in the 31st minute of the game. Gabriel Geleberto's late challenge caught a Gasoducto's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gabriel Geleberto helped the player get up and apologised. After 32 played minutes Racing de Olavarria got a freekick which was hit by Gabriel Geleberto. Zeledon Gizon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Urbano Mouricio having to interfere. Higinio Acosta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 45thth minute of the game Higinio Acosta who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Racing de Olavarria's Urbano Mouricio was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Abelardo Palos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Paúl Breitner tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Zeledon Gizon to make the kick off. Gaudencio Gaueko hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. A collision led to Gasoducto getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Eusebio Etxekopar hit a great ball. Abelardo Palos's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Paúl Breitner read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 59th minute of play. Zeledon Gizon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Urbano Mouricio having to interfere. 64 minutes into the game, Racing de Olavarria's Eloy Loreto nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Paúl Breitner made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Gasoducto's Zeledon Gizon got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Zeledon Gizon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Zeledon Gizon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Urbano Mouricio having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Racing de Olavarria's zone, Zeledon Gizon stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Urbano Mouricio came out of the goal and Zeledon Gizon tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 92 minutes into the match, Racing de Olavarria's goalkeeper Urbano Mouricio had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Higinio Acosta. In the last second Urbano Mouricio throw himself and got hold of the ball when Zeledon Gizon in the 94thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. Eloy Loreto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paúl Breitner having to interfere. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
