Paúl Breitner showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Agustin Olo, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Higinio Acosta recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 48th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

After a defensive mix-up in Arteaga's zone, Higinio Acosta stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Epifanio Txatxu came out of the goal and Higinio Acosta tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Severiano Marko fell near the penalty area in the 62nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gasoducto's protests and gave Severiano Marko a yellow card for diving instead. Severiano Marko kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. Agustin Olo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paúl Breitner having to interfere.
