Ceferino Llin made a fantastic save in the 3rd minute, when Herminio Panfilo sent off a good shot on target. Tarcisio Negri came out of the goal in the 4th minute to try and stop a shot by Club Nacional de Futbol's Serafin Venceslas. But to his dismay, Serafin Venceslas quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Tarcisio Negri took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Elpidio Tabb, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Club Nacional de Futbol's Elpidio Tabb in the 9th minute got a chance for a shot 9th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye C.A. Independiente's goalie prevented a goal. 12 minutes into the match, C.A. Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Elpidio Tabb came free, but Tarcisio Negri reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Herminio Panfilo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ceferino Llin having to interfere. In the 28th minute, Cleto Ramone hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Club Nacional de Futbol's Ceferino Llin got control of the ball when Herminio Panfilo tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 39th minute, Serafin Venceslas ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tarcisio Negri was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. The corner went over the outstretched arms of C.A. Independiente's goalie and right to Bernardo Errapel. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. C.A. Independiente's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Edgard Lonzo was the one to do the kick off. In the 70th minute, Jonas Suero hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Herminio Panfilo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Herminio Panfilo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Ceferino Llin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Edgard Lonzo came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the C.A. Independiente fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edgard Lonzo couldn't finish the play. If Edgard Lonzo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edgard Lonzo in the 95th minute of play forced Club Nacional de Futbol's goalkeeper Ceferino Llin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Club Nacional de Futbol's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
