Ariel Firmin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gregorio Pitin having to interfere. Gregorio Pitin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Derek Marsden in the 32nd minute of the match. Florencio Gaufred made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcial Igon in the 38th minute of play. After a rather tough play, El yeso de Van de Kerkhof's Cecilio Galoer got a free kick in the 44th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The referee ignored Racing Club's protests and gave Eliseo Oinaz a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of El yeso de Van de Kerkhof booed when Racing Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eliseo Oinaz didn't get a good kick on the ball. El yeso de Van de Kerkhof's Efrain Lauaxeta was substituted for Derek Marsden. After 73 played minutes Racing Club got a freekick which was hit by Eliseo Oinaz. When the match had gone on for 78 minutes, Ariel Firmin put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Gregorio Pitin. Ariel Firmin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gregorio Pitin having to interfere. 92 minutes into the game, Efrain Lauaxeta cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Gregorio Pitin was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. El yeso de Van de Kerkhof fully deserved thier win.
