The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After having played for 5 minutes, Augusto Celipe managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. MAR-RA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Augusto Celipe was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Francisco Diegotxe took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jairo Buinton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Ruperto Tirso came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the Atlanta United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ruperto Tirso couldn't finish the play. If Herminio Frederico had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Atlanta United's Leandro Segio got a free kick in the 12th minute. In the 22nd minute, Leandro Segio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Francisco Diegotxe took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jairo Buinton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Baltasar Lesardo fell near the penalty area in the 24th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Atlanta United's protests and gave Baltasar Lesardo a yellow card for diving instead. Augusto Celipe struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Francisco Diegotxe didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for MAR-RA. Francisco Diegotxe made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Augusto Celipe in the 28th minute of play. Blas Porfirio had great luck who in the 32ndth minute grab hold of the ball when Ruperto Tirso from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. In the 37th match minute, Atlanta United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ramiro Matro to maneuver through the defense. 38 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when MAR-RA's Jairo Buinton fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. Augusto Celipe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ruperto Tirso stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Atlanta United's Francisco Diegotxe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jairo Buinton in the 53rd minute of play. Augusto Celipe received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Francisco Diegotxe came out and tried to block the shot, but Augusto Celipe slotted it home off the left post making it 0-1 in the 54th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Ruperto Tirso managed to get in a good position for a shot. Atlanta United's supporters rose to their feet, but Ruperto Tirso was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Blas Porfirio breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Damian Cordeal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Blas Porfirio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Jairo Buinton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 72 minutes, Ruperto Tirso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Francisco Diegotxe didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jairo Buinton went, in the 84th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. In the 89th minute Jairo Buinton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Francisco Diegotxe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When MAR-RA's Jairo Buinton in the 91st minute got a chance for a shot 91st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Atlanta United's goalie prevented a goal. If Ruperto Tirso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. MAR-RA's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
