The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Arsenio Franco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Teobaldo Soter, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. In the 13th minute Teobaldo Soter shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arsenio Franco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by David Nafarroa in the 17th minute of play forced Ave Fénix FC's goalkeeper Severo Maura to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Ave Fénix FC getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. David Chico hit a great ball. Huasán's Vladimiro Mikolas couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 21st minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Ave Fénix FC. David Chico kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Ave Fénix FC's zone, Dante Leoncio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Severo Maura came out of the goal and Dante Leoncio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Severo Maura took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from David Nafarroa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Vladimiro Mikolas was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 33rd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Arsenio Franco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Teobaldo Soter, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Severo Maura made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dante Leoncio in the 37th minute of play. Eulalio Lidon kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. When David Chico fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ave Fénix FC's protests and gave David Chico a yellow card for diving instead. David Chico hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. Severo Maura took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dante Leoncio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Teobaldo Soter to make the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 51st minute, Amancio Basajaun managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ave Fénix FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Amancio Basajaun was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arsenio Franco breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Arsenio Franco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Amancio Basajaun in the 52nd minute of the match. Arnoldo Garin charged in rather forcefully in the 60th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Arnoldo Garin the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Arnoldo Garin hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. Amancio Basajaun might have been able to make a better finish in the 64th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Arsenio Franco. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Amancio Basajaun ran back to his position shaking his head. David Nafarroa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Huasán's zone, Amancio Basajaun stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Arsenio Franco came out of the goal and Amancio Basajaun tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. David Nafarroa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 70th minute of the match, but Severo Maura made a huge save. When Fabricio Aznaro fell near the penalty area in the 72nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Huasán's protests and gave Fabricio Aznaro a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Huasán getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Fabricio Aznaro hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Huasán's Aquiles Unai got a free kick in the 74th minute. In the 75th minute Amancio Basajaun shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arsenio Franco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ave Fénix FC's Severo Maura played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dante Leoncio in the 77th minute of play. Arsenio Franco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Teobaldo Soter in the 82nd minute of play. Amancio Basajaun recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 90th minute, Teobaldo Soter ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Arsenio Franco was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Dante Leoncio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Severo Maura having to interfere. Ave Fénix FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
