The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Rivera FC's zone, Pablo Frederico stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Delmiro Phelipe came out of the goal and Pablo Frederico tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 16th minute Clemente Domenec shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cayetano Ugaitz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Juan Gipuzkoa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 18th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cayetano Ugaitz made a fantastic save in the 21st minute, when Abelardo Felo sent off a good shot on target. In the 23rd minute Pablo Frederico shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Delmiro Phelipe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rivera FC's Delmiro Phelipe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pablo Frederico in the 28th minute of play. Abelardo Felo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cayetano Ugaitz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Juan Gipuzkoa's shot from short distance in the 33rd minute. With a little luck, Hoyón's Cayetano Ugaitz got control of the ball when Abelardo Felo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Abelardo Felo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cayetano Ugaitz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 43rd minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Juan Gipuzkoa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Cayetano Ugaitz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Juan Gipuzkoa went, in the 54th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Cayetano Ugaitz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Juan Gipuzkoa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 58 minutes into the game, Abelardo Felo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Cayetano Ugaitz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 62nd minute, Arnoldo Silvanito ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Delmiro Phelipe was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Juan Gipuzkoa in the 70th minute of play forced Hoyón's goalkeeper Cayetano Ugaitz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cayetano Ugaitz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Abelardo Felo, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. Rivera FC's Gavino Arlo got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Abelardo Felo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 82 minutes into the match, Juan Gipuzkoa had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Cayetano Ugaitz. Hoyón's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Juan Gipuzkoa was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. After having played for 87 minutes, Pablo Frederico managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hoyón's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pablo Frederico was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Santos Valente kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. In the 92nd minute Hoyón were awarded a corner. Candido Belmiro went to the cornerflag to take it. Hoyón's Candido Belmiro was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Delmiro Phelipe in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 94th minute Dario Esdras shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Delmiro Phelipe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Dario Esdras had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hoyón's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
