Spectators: 7230 (Terracing: 5424, Seating: 1663, VIP seats: 143) AZ Alkmaar's Sixto Fertus started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Guaberto Maties made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Elias Gustau in the 6th minute of play. Abel Segio could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 8th minute of the match, but Godofredo Santiago made a huge save. 9 minutes into the match, Progresso's goal looked a bit too open when Sixto Fertus came free, but Godofredo Santiago reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With 12 minutes on the clock, Paulino Jaizki commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. 12 minutes into the game, one of Progresso:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Saul Beltxe could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 19th minute of the match, but Godofredo Santiago made a huge save. Progresso's Godofredo Santiago proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 22nd minute of the match, managed to save Progresso from getting a goal against them. 24 minutes into the game, Saul Beltxe recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Godofredo Santiago. Saul Beltxe showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. In the 27th minute Sixto Fertus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Godofredo Santiago saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 28th minute, Amadeo Crispo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Abel Segio could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 32nd minute of the match, but Godofredo Santiago made a huge save. A collision led to Progresso getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Lucio Aragones hit a great ball. After 35 played minutes Progresso got a freekick which was hit by Lucio Aragones. In the 40thth minute of the game Elias Gustau who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but AZ Alkmaar's Guaberto Maties was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 43 minutes of play, Progresso's Elias Gustau made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Guaberto Maties was left in no man's land by his defense there! 47 minutes into the game, Progresso's Elias Gustau nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Guaberto Maties made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Elias Gustau stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute Blas Duardo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Godofredo Santiago saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Elias Gustau in the 54th minute of play forced AZ Alkmaar's goalkeeper Guaberto Maties to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Eloy Rio came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Progresso fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eloy Rio couldn't finish the play. Elias Gustau fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Guaberto Maties having to interfere. If Cecilio Taurino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. AZ Alkmaar's Guaberto Maties played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elias Gustau in the 77th minute of play. Elias Gustau struck a weak shot in the 78th minute. Guaberto Maties didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Progresso. 80 minutes into the match, Cecilio Taurino dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Guaberto Maties, 2-3. If Elias Gustau had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Abel Segio took the ball and in the 96 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Godofredo Santiago. Godofredo Santiago dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-4. Progresso's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
