Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Luciano Johans to make the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Leandro Hever managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gimnasia y Tiro's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Guido the free kick. The supporters of Guido booed when Gimnasia y Tiro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anibal Santikurtz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gimnasia y Tiro's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
