Cosme Amaya made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Anacleto Joachim fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cosme Amaya having to interfere. In the 10th minute Inocencio Raymundo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rodrigo Ubendu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cecilio Laurgain hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. When Arana's Inocencio Raymundo in the 12th minute got a chance for a shot 12th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Excursionistas's goalie prevented a goal. Celso Elia recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 13th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 16 minutes, Celso Elia managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Arana's supporters crossed their fingers, but Celso Elia was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 18 minutes into the game, Sergio Matro was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Excursionistas's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Arana the free kick. The supporters of Arana booed when Excursionistas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sergio Matro didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Celso Elia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cosme Amaya made a fantastic save in the 27th minute, when Nestor Unai sent off a good shot on target. Arana's Cosme Amaya played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anacleto Joachim in the 36th minute of play. After 37 minutes, Clemente Galo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Arana and the Excursionistas players grew even worse after the yellow card. If Anacleto Joachim had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 47th minute Celso Elia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rodrigo Ubendu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Celso Elia was the one to do the kick off. Through an outstanding action, after 52 minutes, Rodrigo Ubendu successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Celso Elia struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Rodrigo Ubendu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Arana. Rodrigo Ubendu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Celso Elia in the 60th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 64 minutes, Celso Elia took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Rodrigo Ubendu to make any attempt to save it. If Celso Elia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rodrigo Ubendu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Inocencio Raymundo in the 68th minute. Celso Elia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Celso Elia in the 71st minute of play forced Excursionistas's goalkeeper Rodrigo Ubendu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Arana's Celso Elia in the 77th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Rodrigo Ubendu was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Excursionistas through an amazing save. Nestor Unai sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nestor Unai in the 90th minute of play forced Arana's goalkeeper Cosme Amaya to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rodrigo Ubendu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Inocencio Raymundo in the 92nd minute. Celso Elia might have been able to make a better finish in the 95th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rodrigo Ubendu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Celso Elia ran back to his position shaking his head. Arana's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
