Manuel Otsoko recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 2nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Excursionistas's Generoso Arnau got a free kick in the 4th minute. In the 4th minute of the match Fausto Rosalio shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Rodrigo Ubendu showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. If Severo Ubarna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 11th minute, Anibal Santikurtz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 16 minutes into the match, Gimnasia y Tiro's goal looked a bit too open when Anacleto Joachim came free, but Teofilo Estavan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Anacleto Joachim hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. After 23 played minutes Excursionistas got a freekick which was hit by Anacleto Joachim. Rodrigo Ubendu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leandro Hever, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. The audience was convinced that Leandro Hever's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rodrigo Ubendu was relentless in the 26th minute of the game. Leandro Hever's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rodrigo Ubendu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 32nd minute of play. If Severo Ubarna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 43 minutes into the match, Excursionistas's goal looked a bit too open when Severo Ubarna came free, but Rodrigo Ubendu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Severo Ubarna struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Rodrigo Ubendu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gimnasia y Tiro. The Excursionistas players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Gimnasia y Tiro were winning 0-1.

Severo Ubarna received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Rodrigo Ubendu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Severo Ubarna received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Rodrigo Ubendu came out and tried to block the shot, but Severo Ubarna slotted it home off the left post making it 0-2 in the 55th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Leandro Hever managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gimnasia y Tiro's supporters rose to their feet, but Leandro Hever was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rodrigo Ubendu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Teofilo Estavan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anacleto Joachim, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Severo Ubarna in the 84th minute of play forced Excursionistas's goalkeeper Rodrigo Ubendu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Excursionistas's Manuel Otsoko got a free kick in the 85th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Excursionistas's zone, Severo Ubarna stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rodrigo Ubendu came out of the goal and Severo Ubarna tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 87 minutes into the match, Excursionistas's goal looked a bit too open when Leandro Hever came free, but Rodrigo Ubendu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 89 minutes, Geronimo Hug mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Excursionistas and the Gimnasia y Tiro players grew even worse after the yellow card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Excursionistas fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 88th minute. Penalty! The goalkeeper, Rodrigo Ubendu, was totally fooled by Gimnasia y Tiro's Fausto Rosalio, who 90 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. The Excursionistas fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Gimnasia y Tiro were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
