Leonardo Guerrero's late challenge caught a Four Horsemen's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Leonardo Guerrero helped the player get up and apologised. Leonardo Guerrero hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Defensores de Belgrano's zone, Zlatan Palermo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Antonio Cucao came out of the goal and Zlatan Palermo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Norberto Lop recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Zlatan Palermo in the 23rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Antonio Cucao saved Defensores de Belgrano from getting behind. Norberto Lop sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Raimundo Perrando in the 26th minute of play forced Four Horsemen's goalkeeper Melchor Rioja to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Antonio Cucao showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zlatan Palermo, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. 81 minutes into the game, Atilano Quilo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Defensores de Belgrano's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
