Eusebio Ubarna received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Cristobal Peter tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 6 minutes into the match, C. A. River Plate's goal looked a bit too open when Tiburcio Checa came free, but Cristobal Peter reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, C. A. River Plate's Cecilio Christobal got a free kick in the 6th minute. Tiburcio Checa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. If Fabio Sanchez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Zapallar AFC's Prudencio Cordarin got a free kick in the 18th minute. Cecilio Christobal kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. In the 22nd minute of the match Prudencio Cordarin sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Cristobal Peter skillfully saved the ball. In the 26th minute, Constantino Fe hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. C. A. River Plate's Rolando Baumar got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 40 played minutes C. A. River Plate got a freekick which was hit by Fabio Sanchez. If Tiburcio Checa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Arnaldo Celino came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Zapallar AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arnaldo Celino couldn't finish the play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tiburcio Checa was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cecilio Christobal in the 55th minute of play forced Zapallar AFC's goalkeeper Basilio Malvin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in C. A. River Plate's zone, Tiburcio Checa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cristobal Peter came out of the goal and Tiburcio Checa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Basilio Malvin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fabio Sanchez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rolando Baumar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Basilio Malvin having to interfere. Fabio Sanchez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Basilio Malvin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rolando Baumar, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. After having played for 76 minutes, Fabio Sanchez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. C. A. River Plate's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fabio Sanchez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 77th minute, Osvaldo Silbestre hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd rose to their feet as Zapallar AFC's Tiburcio Checa slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Cristobal Peter. That made the score 0-1 after 85 minutes of play. Tiburcio Checa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristobal Peter having to interfere. If Fabio Sanchez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The C. A. River Plate supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Zapallar AFC's performance. The match ended with a win for Zapallar AFC.
