Spectators: 6904 (Terracing: 5100, Seating: 1661, VIP seats: 143) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Melquiades Gaufred made the kick off which started today's match. After some fancy dribbling in the 3rd minute, Ariel Paio managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gualeguay's supporters rose to their feet, but Ariel Paio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bernabe Leoncio breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 6th minute Melquiades Gaufred shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bernabe Leoncio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ariel Paio blasted a shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Bernabe Leoncio having to make a save. In the 9thth minute of the game Ariel Paio who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Picapiedras's Bernabe Leoncio was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Alfredo Errolan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bernabe Leoncio came out of the goal in the 24th minute to try and stop a shot by Gualeguay's Ariel Paio. But to his dismay, Ariel Paio quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Ariel Paio struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Bernabe Leoncio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gualeguay. If Ariel Paio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 42nd match minute, Gualeguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carlos Jaume to maneuver through the defense. When Ciriaco Calixto came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the Picapiedras fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ciriaco Calixto couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Gualeguay's zone, Alfredo Errolan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aurelio Toribio came out of the goal and Alfredo Errolan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Ariel Paio's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Bernabe Leoncio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 52nd minute of play. Bernabe Leoncio made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ariel Paio in the 53rd minute. In the 55th minute of the match Gualeguay got a corner. Picapiedras's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Jeronimo Franco ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Jeronimo Franco almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Picapiedras's Bernabe Leoncio did a great save. Ciriaco Calixto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Aurelio Toribio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alfredo Errolan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ciriaco Calixto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aurelio Toribio having to interfere. Ciriaco Calixto struck a weak shot in the 86th minute. Aurelio Toribio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Picapiedras. Alfredo Errolan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Aurelio Toribio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Aurelio Toribio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfredo Errolan in the 96th minute of play. The Picapiedras supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Gualeguay's performance. The match ended with a win for Gualeguay.
