In the 9th match minute, RIVER was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jose Pirro to maneuver through the defense. In the 17th minute, Ramon Laffitte got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Igor Ritchie fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Godfredo Asier having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Menucos's Basilio Evangelista got a free kick in the 24th minute. 25 minutes into the match, Igor Ritchie had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Godfredo Asier. Menucos's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Igor Ritchie was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Reynaldo Azubeli kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. If Martin Ixidor had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Marcelo Burni got free with Cosme Llope in the 32nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Menucos's Godfredo Asier played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jose Pirro in the 34th minute of play. 36 minutes had been played when some careless play by Menucos's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Conrado Barros was slow to take the kick. During this time RIVER's players had a chance to rest. 40 minutes into the match, Menucos's Justo Panfilo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Cosme Llope narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Justo Panfilo made the kick off in the second half. Cosme Llope took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bruno Chucho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 57 minutes into the match, RIVER's goal looked a bit too open when Bruno Chucho came free, but Cosme Llope reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to RIVER getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Agustin Frances hit a great ball. After 78 played minutes Menucos got a freekick which was hit by Justo Panfilo. Igor Ritchie fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Godfredo Asier having to interfere. Virgilio Escobar's late challenge caught a RIVER's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Virgilio Escobar helped the player get up and apologised. After 83 played minutes Menucos got a freekick which was hit by Virgilio Escobar. 88 minutes into the match, Menucos's goal looked a bit too open when Igor Ritchie came free, but Godfredo Asier reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Menucos getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Virgilio Escobar hit a great ball. Marcelo Burni fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cosme Llope having to interfere. Jose Pirro's late challenge caught a Menucos's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jose Pirro helped the player get up and apologised. After 94 played minutes RIVER got a freekick which was hit by Jose Pirro. When the final whistle went the supporters of RIVER were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Menucos side.
