Gimnsia de Jujuy's defense didn't have a chance, in the 16th minute, when Ariel Elequemedo scored to the left of an out of position Leandro Sayvion, making the score, 1-0. Leandro Sayvion took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ariel Elequemedo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 22 minutes into the game, Ruben Petrigai was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SSC Napoli's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gimnsia de Jujuy the free kick.
