Desiderio Modestio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Felix Calvino having to interfere. Sixto Cai showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Albano Derwin, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Felix Calvino didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Desiderio Modestio went, in the 42nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. An unexpectedly hard shot by Raul Brun in the 47th minute of play forced Gimnasia y Esgrima LP's goalkeeper Sixto Cai to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. El Boca Juniors's Serafino Anaya suffered a sore knee after 47 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Pascual Leocadio charged in rather forcefully in the 47th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Pascual Leocadio the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The El Boca Juniors players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Gimnasia y Esgrima LP were winning 0-3.

Gimnasia y Esgrima LP's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave El Boca Juniors the free kick. After 88 played minutes Gimnasia y Esgrima LP got a freekick which was hit by Desiderio Modestio. After a defensive mix-up in El Boca Juniors's zone, Aquilino Tallia stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Felix Calvino came out of the goal and Aquilino Tallia tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Desiderio Modestio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The Gimnasia y Esgrima LP players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
