The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Romulo Oihenarte charged in rather forcefully in the 18th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Romulo Oihenarte the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 18 played minutes Petronila AFC got a freekick which was hit by Romulo Oihenarte. In a very dangerous position, a player in Urutaú FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 23rd minute. Penalty! Gustavo Furman placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! The supporters of Petronila AFC booed when Urutaú FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Delmiro Afonso didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 33rd minute, Clemente Calixto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Urutaú FC's Gervasio Mendez got a free kick in the 35th minute. Anacleto Ledesma made an important save on a dangerous shot by Pastor Sayvion in the 36th minute. After having played for 40 minutes, Clemente Calixto managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Petronila AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Clemente Calixto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Astor Lorien received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Anacleto Ledesma tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Marco Dacio during the 48th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 48th match minute, Petronila AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marco Dacio to maneuver through the defense. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Clemente Calixto was the one to do the kick off. Urutaú FC's Anacleto Ledesma played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Astor Lorien in the 55th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Romulo Oihenarte in the 56th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Anacleto Ledesma saved Urutaú FC from getting behind. If Generoso Balendin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Roque Cutberto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Generoso Birjaio having to interfere. The attack was good, but when Roque Cutberto in the 70th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Generoso Balendin could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 72nd minute of the match, but Generoso Birjaio made a huge save. Generoso Balendin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lorenzo Serafo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Generoso Birjaio having to interfere. When the match clock showed 83 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Clemente Calixto sped through Urutaú FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Anacleto Ledesma. Urutaú FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Roque Cutberto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Generoso Birjaio breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Roque Cutberto came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Urutaú FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Roque Cutberto couldn't finish the play. In the 98th minute, Roque Cutberto got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The Petronila AFC players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
