The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 5th minute, Amancio Berbiz left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Darwin AFC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Arnulfo Conrao recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 9th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Arnulfo Conrao fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ceferino Cordarrel having to interfere. In the 12th minute, Cirilo Eron got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Cirilo Eron struck a weak shot in the 17th minute. Ceferino Cordarrel didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for ssaltlake. Ceferino Cordarrel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cirilo Eron in the 18th minute of play. After having played for 21 minutes, Amancio Berbiz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Darwin AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Amancio Berbiz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sebastian Luix made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Modesto Hunfredo in the 23rd minute of play. The audience was convinced that Modesto Hunfredo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sebastian Luix was relentless in the 25th minute of the game. 39 minutes into the match, Darwin AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Cirilo Eron came free, but Ceferino Cordarrel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Arnulfo Conrao received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Ceferino Cordarrel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After the first half Darwin AFC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Modesto Hunfredo made the kick off in the second half. Modesto Hunfredo's late challenge caught a ssaltlake's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Modesto Hunfredo helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of ssaltlake booed when Darwin AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Modesto Hunfredo didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arnulfo Conrao in the 55th minute of play forced Darwin AFC's goalkeeper Ceferino Cordarrel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Arnulfo Conrao took the ball and in the 61 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ceferino Cordarrel. Ceferino Cordarrel dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. In the 77th minute Arnulfo Conrao shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ceferino Cordarrel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Darwin AFC defense, Cirilo Eron kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ceferino Cordarrel. The Darwin AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ceferino Cordarrel should have stopped the shot. Amancio Berbiz fired away a difficult shot at goal in the 90th minute. He almost succeeded, but the ball went over. It was a very nice shot. When Honorato Asur fell near the penalty area in the 93rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored ssaltlake's protests and gave Honorato Asur a yellow card for diving instead. ssaltlake's Sebastian Luix proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 94th minute of the match, managed to save ssaltlake from getting a goal against them. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. ssaltlake had won after a very even match.
