In the 11thth minute of the game Julian Peruanton who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Deportivo Merlo.'s Astor Martxel was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Fabricio Quintana fell near the penalty area in the 11th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Deportivo Merlo.'s protests and gave Fabricio Quintana a yellow card for diving instead. In the 12th minute, Fabricio Quintana hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Victorio Isauro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 21st match minute, Deportivo Merlo. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Victorio Isauro to maneuver through the defense. After 25 played minutes Deportivo Merlo. got a freekick which was hit by Victorio Isauro. When Fernando Elequemedo came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Despiertos.F.C fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fernando Elequemedo couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Deportivo Merlo. booed when Despiertos.F.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Francisco Quintan didn't get a good kick on the ball. 34 minutes into the match, Fernando Elequemedo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Astor Martxel. Deportivo Merlo.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fernando Elequemedo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Fernando Elequemedo might have been able to make a better finish in the 45th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Astor Martxel. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Fernando Elequemedo ran back to his position shaking his head. Salvador Llorienzo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sebastian Oxel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Fernando Elequemedo was the one to do the kick off. Despiertos.F.C's Julian Peruanton got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Julian Peruanton's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Astor Martxel was relentless in the 56th minute of the game. Salvador Llorienzo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sebastian Oxel in the 57th minute of play. Astor Martxel stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Julian Peruanton's shot from short distance in the 59th minute. Astor Martxel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fernando Elequemedo, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. If Gonzalo Isaio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Astor Martxel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Peruanton in the 66th minute of play. 69 minutes into the game, Despiertos.F.C's Julian Peruanton nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Astor Martxel made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Julian Peruanton recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Fernando Elequemedo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Despiertos.F.C's supporters rose to their feet, but Fernando Elequemedo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Astor Martxel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 88 minutes, Julian Peruanton managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Despiertos.F.C's supporters crossed their fingers, but Julian Peruanton was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Fernando Elequemedo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Astor Martxel having to interfere. Fernando Elequemedo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
