In the 8th minute, Hugo Bermudo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 11th minute Christian Kelemen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rodolfo Cordara saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hugo Bermudo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Mauricio Lesardo hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. The audience was convinced that Martin Mendiko's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jimeno Bernebe was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. Inocencio Diagur's late challenge caught a FC Schalke 04's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Inocencio Diagur helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Catuna FC's Inocencio Diagur got a free kick in the 26th minute. Martin Mendiko charged in rather forcefully in the 28th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Martin Mendiko the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 28th match minute, FC Schalke 04 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Martin Mendiko to maneuver through the defense. Catuna FC's Jimeno Bernebe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Martin Mendiko in the 31st minute of play. Silvestre Ofelio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 40 minutes into the match, FC Schalke 04's goal looked a bit too open when Hugo Bermudo came free, but Rodolfo Cordara reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Fabricio Mero lost his temper 58 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. Rodolfo Cordara made a fantastic save in the 80th minute, when Alejo Martino sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Catuna FC booed when FC Schalke 04 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ovidio Eguen didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alejo Martino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Rodolfo Cordara tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Christian Kelemen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rodolfo Cordara showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hugo Bermudo, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute.
