The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 6th match minute, Belgrano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gerardo Rexino to maneuver through the defense. Blas Tono fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Denis Sancho having to interfere. In the 10th minute Alvaro Fernanco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Denis Sancho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 14th minute, Severo Peruanton ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Guido Perutxo was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Manuel Etxepare fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Guido Perutxo having to interfere. Belgrano's Denis Sancho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Blas Tono in the 23rd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Chichinales's zone, Severo Peruanton stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Guido Perutxo came out of the goal and Severo Peruanton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Alvaro Fernanco managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chichinales's supporters rose to their feet, but Alvaro Fernanco was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Denis Sancho breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 34th minute of the game, Segundo Txilar landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. The supporters of Belgrano booed when Chichinales was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nicolas Tajo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Belgrano's Tadeo Eneas couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 38th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Chichinales. Belgrano's Denis Sancho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Blas Tono in the 41st minute of play. Denis Sancho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alvaro Fernanco in the 42nd minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Blas Tono was the one to do the kick off. If Blas Tono had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Denis Sancho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alvaro Fernanco, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. After some careless play in the Chichinales defense, Severo Peruanton kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Guido Perutxo. The Chichinales fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Guido Perutxo should have stopped the shot. Denis Sancho was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Blas Tono showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-1 in the 65 minute of play. Blas Tono might have been able to make a better finish in the 69th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Denis Sancho. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Blas Tono ran back to his position shaking his head. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Alvaro Fernanco managed to get in a good position for a shot.
