Ubaldo Cristos who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 42ndth minute tested the skills of Mauricio Estebe when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Valentin Oriol took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rodolfo Burni, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mauricio Estebe came out of the goal in the 46th minute to try and stop a shot by Chaparro's Ubaldo Cristos. But to his dismay, Ubaldo Cristos quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

In the 52nd minute Fernan Valiente shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mauricio Estebe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Valentin Oriol was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
