He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Julio Senin. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alejo Ciano in the 8th minute of play forced Sp. Canario's goalkeeper Flavio Isauro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Bernardino Cristos came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the Drysdale fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bernardino Cristos couldn't finish the play. Bernardino Cristos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Flavio Isauro having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Alejo Ciano managed to get in a good position for a shot. Drysdale's supporters rose to their feet, but Alejo Ciano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Flavio Isauro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Julio Senin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Drysdale booed when Sp. Canario was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amador Rivero didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bernardino Cristos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 98th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Sp. Canario fans cheered their team off the field, for while Drysdale had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
