The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Cipriano Jax had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. DE LEON FC's Joel Lop played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bernardo Sancho in the 7th minute of play. Leopoldo Laurin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Juan Abeita tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Juan Abeita made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Leopoldo Laurin sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Teofilo Abechuco in the 19th minute of play forced Independiente's goalkeeper Juan Abeita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ubaldo Tipi charged in rather forcefully in the 20th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ubaldo Tipi the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Independiente getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Ubaldo Tipi hit a great ball. In the 24th minute, Fermin Osorio got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Cipriano Jax had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Bernardo Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Joel Lop tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cipriano Jax recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 32nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Independiente booed when DE LEON FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fermin Osorio didn't get a good kick on the ball. DE LEON FC's Joel Lop played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bernardo Sancho in the 37th minute of play. In the 47th minute, Bernardo Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Cipriano Jax made a kick off. Cipriano Jax sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 58th minute Cipriano Jax shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joel Lop saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cipriano Jax in the 60th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Joel Lop saved DE LEON FC from getting behind. 65 minutes into the match, Teofilo Abechuco had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Juan Abeita. Independiente's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Teofilo Abechuco was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. If Bernardo Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cipriano Jax fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joel Lop having to interfere. Fernan Martinez hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. Juan Abeita stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Leopoldo Laurin's shot from short distance in the 81st minute. Juan Abeita didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Leopoldo Laurin went, in the 83rd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Leopoldo Lia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Joel Lop tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Teofilo Abechuco managed to get in a good position for a shot. DE LEON FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Teofilo Abechuco was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Juan Abeita breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Leopoldo Laurin blasted a shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Juan Abeita having to make a save. Teofilo Abechuco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Juan Abeita tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. DE LEON FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
