Federico Gaueko stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hernan Brion's shot from short distance in the 35th minute. In the 36th match minute, Club Atlético Independien was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Baldomiro Maiorga to maneuver through the defense. Alvaro Bittor kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. In the 43rd minute, Club Atlético Independien's Hernan Brion dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Modesto Nazario made a kick off. In the 56th minute, Modesto Nazario reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Mario Palos. The goal made the score 1-1. If Hernan Brion had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Carbo defense, Hernan Brion kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Federico Gaueko. The Carbo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Federico Gaueko should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gogo Iturri in the 74th minute of play forced Carbo's goalkeeper Federico Gaueko to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Federico Gaueko took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gogo Iturri, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 79th minute of the match Club Atlético Independien got a corner. Carbo's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. In the 89th minute Gogo Iturri shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Federico Gaueko saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gogo Iturri blasted a shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Federico Gaueko having to make a save.
