Serafim Sá kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. If Isaac Llorian had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Aquilino Firmo struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Evelio Ikatz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for INDEPENDIENTE. Herman Mossberg hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Carlos Lucero didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Javier Demario went, in the 27th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Lisandro Ortzi charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Lisandro Ortzi the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, INDEPENDIENTE's Lisandro Ortzi got a free kick in the 31st minute. Paulino Urtungo hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. 33 minutes into the match, INDEPENDIENTE's goalkeeper Carlos Lucero had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Javier Demario. Atlético Río Luján's Jerry Hellström managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Marco Pereira in the 35 minute of the game. Carlos Lucero made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gabriel Batistuta in the 36th minute of play. Javier Demario's late challenge caught a INDEPENDIENTE's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Javier Demario helped the player get up and apologised. Javier Demario hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. In the 40th minute, Aquilino Firmo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gabriel Batistuta recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpected shot in the 47th minute by Javier Demario got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Isaac Llorian was the one to do the kick off. When Paulino Urtungo came up free with the goalie in the 56th minute, the INDEPENDIENTE fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Paulino Urtungo couldn't finish the play. Carlos Lucero showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gabriel Batistuta in the 59th minute of the match. After recieving a nice pass, INDEPENDIENTE's Saul Ladio tried to score from far away in the 61st minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. If Gabriel Batistuta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 67th minute the ball was on its way in behind INDEPENDIENTE's goalkeeper Carlos Lucero, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Atlético Río Luján's Gabriel Batistuta in the 74th minute got a chance for a shot 74th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye INDEPENDIENTE's goalie prevented a goal. A collision led to Atlético Río Luján getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Jerry Hellström hit a great ball. INDEPENDIENTE's Carlos Lucero played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gabriel Batistuta in the 88th minute of play. INDEPENDIENTE played a much better game than Atlético Río Luján and deserved their victory. The Atlético Río Luján players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
