Aaron Ritchie fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alejandro Fix having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Aaron Ritchie's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Alejandro Fix was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Felix Orte in the 47th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Alejandro Fix saved Garupá from getting behind. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ulises Lastur stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, Garupá's Alejandro Fix got control of the ball when Aaron Ritchie tried to sneak it across the goal line. Rosendo Barbosa scored 0-4 in the 56th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alejandro Fix, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 59th minute, Aaron Ritchie got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Atlético Mermoz's Arnulfo Txema played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Erasmo Azubeli in the 89th minute of play. In the 91st minute, Victor Giraldo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Aaron Ritchie received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Alejandro Fix tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Atlético Mermoz's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
