When Eduardo Bernabel fell near the penalty area in the 7th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Kaiken's protests and gave Eduardo Bernabel a yellow card for diving instead. Eduardo Bernabel kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. Camilo Barros's late challenge caught a Kaiken's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Camilo Barros helped the player get up and apologised. In the 13th match minute, Bouquet was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camilo Barros to maneuver through the defense. Bouquet's attentive Claudio Etxeberri managed to snatch the ball when Fernando Hierro made a throw-in in the 16th minute of the game. In the 17th match minute, Bouquet was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Casimiro Constancio to maneuver through the defense. Eduardo Bernabel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcelo Raulo having to interfere. An unexpected shot in the 33rd minute by Eduardo Bernabel got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Artemio Garci to strike the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, Anibal Vidal notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Bouquet's Marcelo Raulo. Marcelo Raulo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Marcelo Raulo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anibal Vidal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
