In the 6th minute, Nemesio Gaitan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Reynaldo Elequemedo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adolfo Oroitz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 8th match minute, Independiente was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wilfredo Cebo to maneuver through the defense. In the 11th minute, Nemesio Gaitan reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Denis Che. The goal made the score 1-0. After a rather tough play, Independiente's Erasmo Montez got a free kick in the 14th minute. Reynaldo Elequemedo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adolfo Oroitz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Prudencio Pueblo got free with Denis Che in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adolfo Oroitz in the 22nd minute of play forced Independiente's goalkeeper Reynaldo Elequemedo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 23 minutes into the match, Carlos Oriche notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Independiente's Reynaldo Elequemedo. Reynaldo Elequemedo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 31 minutes into the game, Carlos Oriche cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Reynaldo Elequemedo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Mariano Louis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 44th minute, Carlos Oriche left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The San Vicente Fútbol Club fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. After 48 played minutes Independiente got a freekick which was hit by Prudencio Pueblo. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Adolfo Oroitz to strike the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Oriche came free, but Reynaldo Elequemedo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Independiente's Nemesio Gaitan got a free kick in the 54th minute. Baldomiro Naelio kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. Reynaldo Elequemedo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dario Galindo, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. When Silvio Gregory fell near the penalty area in the 66th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Independiente's protests and gave Silvio Gregory a yellow card for diving instead. Carlos Oriche could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 71st minute of the match, but Reynaldo Elequemedo made a huge save. In the 73rd match minute, San Vicente Fútbol Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alvaro Monico to maneuver through the defense. Silvio Gregory kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. After 80 minutes, Prudencio Pueblo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Independiente and the San Vicente Fútbol Club players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a defensive mix-up in Independiente's zone, Dario Galindo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Reynaldo Elequemedo came out of the goal and Dario Galindo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Prudencio Pueblo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nemesio Gaitan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Denis Che tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 91st minute Baldomiro Naelio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Denis Che saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Carlos Oriche fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Reynaldo Elequemedo having to interfere. The San Vicente Fútbol Club supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing San Vicente Fútbol Club would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
