C.A. Sportivo Sabalero's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Deportivo Mate the free kick. Deportivo Mate's Gerardo Tipi got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edgard Rubio in the 45th minute of play forced Deportivo Mate's goalkeeper Americo Marcones to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

A collision led to Deportivo Mate getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Alvaro Isias hit a great ball. In the 76th match minute, Deportivo Mate was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gerardo Tipi to maneuver through the defense. Gerardo Tipi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 78th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Amador Eduino, 83 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Deportivo Mate's Teofilo Manex was substituted for Gerardo Tipi. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Victoriano Cambranes during the 93rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Sportivo Sabalero's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
