Independiente Futbol Club's defense didn't have a chance, in the 8th minute, when Irinel Jienescu scored to the left of an out of position Joaquim Serbia, making the score, 1-0. Joaquim Serbia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eugenio Dominic in the 11th minute of the match. After 12 minutes of play, Independiente Futbol Club's Leonides Mederi made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Dante Oinatz was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Allan Göransson in the 15th minute of play forced Haile Selassie's goalkeeper Dante Oinatz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Allan Göransson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Haile Selassie's Arnoldo Cidro slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Joaquim Serbia. That made the score 2-1 after 20 minutes of play. Independiente Futbol Club's Joaquim Serbia proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 23rd minute of the match, managed to save Independiente Futbol Club from getting a goal against them. In the 33rd match minute, Independiente Futbol Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leonides Mederi to maneuver through the defense. Joaquim Serbia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Irinel Jienescu in the 34th minute of play. Arnoldo Cidro received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Joaquim Serbia came out and tried to block the shot, but Arnoldo Cidro slotted it home off the left post making it 3-2 in the 36th minute. Zacarias Maties could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 45th minute of the match, but Joaquim Serbia made a huge save. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Allan Göransson to strike the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Haile Selassie's goalkeeper Dante Oinatz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fabricio Hurko. With a little luck, Haile Selassie's Dante Oinatz got control of the ball when Allan Göransson tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eugenio Dominic in the 61st minute of play forced Independiente Futbol Club's goalkeeper Joaquim Serbia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Independiente Futbol Club's Joaquim Serbia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Inocencio Dolfo in the 62nd minute of play. Joaquim Serbia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eugenio Dominic in the 73rd minute of the match. Dante Oinatz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Allan Göransson, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. Yngve Ros recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fabricio Hurko got free with Dante Oinatz in the 80th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Independiente Futbol Club's Joaquim Serbia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eugenio Dominic in the 81st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eugenio Dominic in the 84th minute of play forced Independiente Futbol Club's goalkeeper Joaquim Serbia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 85th minute, Arnoldo Cidro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Joaquim Serbia was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-3. Dagoberto Vides's late challenge caught a Independiente Futbol Club's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dagoberto Vides helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Haile Selassie's Dagoberto Vides got a free kick in the 88th minute. Rodrigo Paranaense took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 89th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Dante Oinatz. Haile Selassie's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The audience was convinced that Allan Göransson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dante Oinatz was relentless in the 92nd minute of the game. If Allan Göransson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Haile Selassie's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
