Fidel Nevada didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Irinel Jienescu went, in the 5th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. 10 minutes in the game, Carlos Darien fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Dante Oinatz having to interfere. When Arnoldo Cidro came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the Haile Selassie fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arnoldo Cidro couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Haile Selassie's zone, Carlos Darien stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dante Oinatz came out of the goal and Carlos Darien tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Dante Oinatz was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Vicente Ramone showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 19 minute of play. Arnoldo Cidro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dante Oinatz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Eusebio Handi in the 32nd minute. After having played for 36 minutes, Irinel Jienescu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Haile Selassie's supporters crossed their fingers, but Irinel Jienescu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Fidel Nevada took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zacarias Maties, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The long shot by Vicente Ramone in the 46th minute really tested Dante Oinatz's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Zacarias Maties received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Fidel Nevada tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The supporters of Haile Selassie booed when Monroe AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Monroe AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Eugenio Dominic was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. After 61 minutes, Irinel Jienescu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Haile Selassie and the Monroe AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Irinel Jienescu kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. 62 minutes into the match, Monroe AFC's Carlos Darien sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dante Oinatz narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eusebio Handi in the 63rd minute of play forced Haile Selassie's goalkeeper Dante Oinatz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 75th match minute, Monroe AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcos Abar to maneuver through the defense. Haile Selassie's Dante Oinatz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Darien in the 76th minute of play. Dante Oinatz came out of the goal in the 78th minute to try and stop a shot by Monroe AFC's Eusebio Handi. But to his dismay, Eusebio Handi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. Carlos Darien fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dante Oinatz having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Eusebio Handi in the 82nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dante Oinatz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Eugenio Dominic fell near the penalty area in the 85th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Haile Selassie's protests and gave Eugenio Dominic a yellow card for diving instead. Eugenio Dominic kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. Monroe AFC made a substitution. Tomas Nisio replaced Alonzo Bernad. Sazon Buison charged in rather forcefully in the 88th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sazon Buison the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Haile Selassie getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Sazon Buison hit a great ball. In the 92nd minute, Eugenio Dominic ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Fidel Nevada was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-3. In the 96th minute, Inocencio Dolfo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
