After a rather tough play, Uraguey's Maximino Mogel got a free kick in the 25th minute. Big Banana kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. Rene Herensuge received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Camilo Oliverio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Rene Herensuge managed to get in a good position for a shot. Uraguey's supporters rose to their feet, but Rene Herensuge was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Camilo Oliverio breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 43 minutes into the game, Anibal Precioso threw the ball into play from the sideline. Uraguey's Casimiro Conrao quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. After 47 played minutes Uraguey got a freekick which was hit by Alberto De Lorenzi. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

57 in the game Uraguey's Big Banana showed how dangerous he can be in front of the goal when he by his own managed to get a clear opportunity for a shot. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
