When Abelardo Barrionuevo fell near the penalty area in the 16th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored El Huemul's protests and gave Abelardo Barrionuevo a yellow card for diving instead. Abelardo Barrionuevo hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. In the 27th minute, Simon Francesco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 28 minutes, Marcos Berdaitz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. El Huemul's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marcos Berdaitz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in BRUJAS FC's zone, Abelardo Barrionuevo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Radowit Klimkiewicz came out of the goal and Abelardo Barrionuevo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Marcos Berdaitz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Radowit Klimkiewicz having to interfere. Astor Oto had great luck who in the 36thth minute grab hold of the ball when Aureliano Mirande from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. If Abelardo Barrionuevo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 41 minutes into the game, Dallas Smalley cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-3. Radowit Klimkiewicz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 46th minute, Aureliano Mirande got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 2-3.

Dallas Smalley might have been able to make a better finish in the 53rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Radowit Klimkiewicz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dallas Smalley ran back to his position shaking his head. After 58 minutes, Faustino Musko mouthed his way into the referee's book.
