Spectators: 7499 (Terracing: 5625, Seating: 1728, VIP seats: 146) FC Kaiserslautern's Godo Schirp started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 7th minute, Froilan Beltran hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 10 minutes into the game, Gavino Romildo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Corrales's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Kaiserslautern the free kick. Gavino Romildo hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. Vladimiro Quirze received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Natalio Karmel came out and tried to block the shot, but Vladimiro Quirze slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 11th minute. 14 minutes into the match, Corrales's goal looked a bit too open when Vladimiro Quirze came free, but Natalio Karmel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 18 minutes into the match, Iker Berdaitz notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of FC Kaiserslautern's Eugeniusz Ciempa. Eugeniusz Ciempa was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Natalio Karmel made an important save on a dangerous shot by Godo Schirp in the 25th minute. Iker Berdaitz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eugeniusz Ciempa having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Vladimiro Quirze kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Natalio Karmel. That made the score 2-1 in the 34 minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Godo Schirp in the 39th minute of play forced Corrales's goalkeeper Natalio Karmel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A hard shot by Gualterio Nevada from long distance, 44 minutes into the match, got Natalio Karmel's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. In the 47th match minute, FC Kaiserslautern was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ubaldo Ursino to maneuver through the defense. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-1 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Iker Berdaitz to strike the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ubaldo Ursino during the 51st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Ubaldo Ursino hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. After 54 played minutes FC Kaiserslautern got a freekick which was hit by Sílvio Lessa. In the 57th minute of the match Corrales got a corner. FC Kaiserslautern's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Esteve Heli ran over to the corner to take the kick. Norberto Arotza made a great header on Corrales's corner, it was just that FC Kaiserslautern's Eugeniusz Ciempa managed to reach the ball for a save. Geronimo Victoro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 62nd minute of the match, but Eugeniusz Ciempa made a huge save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Iker Berdaitz in the 63rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Eugeniusz Ciempa saved FC Kaiserslautern from getting behind. Vladimiro Quirze struck a weak shot in the 68th minute. Natalio Karmel didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Kaiserslautern. Iker Berdaitz's late challenge caught a FC Kaiserslautern's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Iker Berdaitz helped the player get up and apologised. In the 70th minute, Iker Berdaitz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 75th minute Iker Berdaitz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eugeniusz Ciempa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. During the 75th minute of the match Ubaldo Ursino completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Ubaldo Ursino a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Geronimo Victoro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 79th minute of the match, but Eugeniusz Ciempa made a huge save. If Iker Berdaitz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eugeniusz Ciempa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Iker Berdaitz, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. Norberto Arotza's late challenge caught a FC Kaiserslautern's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Norberto Arotza helped the player get up and apologised. After 86 played minutes Corrales got a freekick which was hit by Norberto Arotza. Geronimo Victoro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Eugeniusz Ciempa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in FC Kaiserslautern's zone, Iker Berdaitz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eugeniusz Ciempa came out of the goal and Iker Berdaitz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Many of Corrales's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Corrales may have spent more time on the ball, but FC Kaiserslautern were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
