Einar Holmberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Andres Galindo in the 10th minute of play. Ascacibar-Pérez's Einar Holmberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Andres Galindo in the 15th minute of play. When Martín Palermo, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 16 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Marcelo Olivar was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Martín Palermo succeeded in the game's 25th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-1. In the 28th minute, Martín Palermo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 31 minutes, Laureano Aguirre mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Villaguay AFC and the Ascacibar-Pérez players grew even worse after the yellow card. The referee ignored Villaguay AFC's protests and gave Alfonso Franquesa a yellow card for diving instead. Villaguay AFC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
