Wilfredo Irrintzi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tadeo Macerio in the 11th minute of play. After 12 played minutes Verdugos FC got a freekick which was hit by Angel Francho. The supporters of Gryffindor Lions booed when Verdugos FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alvaro Erasto didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Eustacio Gaxan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eustacio Gaxan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Higinio Burutzagi having to interfere. Gryffindor Lions's Norberto Raphael couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Verdugos FC. The audience was convinced that Gogo Vimaro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Higinio Burutzagi was relentless in the 25th minute of the game. Higinio Burutzagi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eustacio Gaxan, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Higinio Burutzagi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gogo Vimaro in the 37th minute of the match. 39 minutes into the game, Gryffindor Lions's Manuel Tonio nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Higinio Burutzagi made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eustacio Gaxan in the 44th minute of play forced Verdugos FC's goalkeeper Higinio Burutzagi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 47 minutes into the game, Gryffindor Lions's Gogo Vimaro nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Higinio Burutzagi made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. Gryffindor Lions made a substitution. Froilan Astrada replaced Gogo Vimaro. After the first half Gryffindor Lions were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alvaro Erasto to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, Gryffindor Lions's Santo Iraido got a free kick in the 58th minute. Froilan Astrada sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Froilan Astrada managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gryffindor Lions's supporters rose to their feet, but Froilan Astrada was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Higinio Burutzagi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Gryffindor Lions booed when Verdugos FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cosme Grabiel didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some careless play in the Verdugos FC defense, Froilan Astrada kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Higinio Burutzagi. The Verdugos FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Higinio Burutzagi should have stopped the shot. If Froilan Astrada had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. Higinio Burutzagi came out of the goal and Froilan Astrada tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Froilan Astrada had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 90th match minute, Gryffindor Lions was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Norberto Raphael to maneuver through the defense. After 98 minutes, Santo Iraido mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gryffindor Lions and the Verdugos FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 98 played minutes Gryffindor Lions got a freekick which was hit by Santo Iraido.
