In the 2nd minute Olgierd Walaszkiewicz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Saul Ovando saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 4 minutes into the match, Avellaneda's goal looked a bit too open when Olgierd Walaszkiewicz came free, but Saul Ovando reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Aguilas rojas's Eusebio Lluis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benicio Donio in the 10th minute of play. In the 17th minute, Olgierd Walaszkiewicz reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Saul Ovando. The goal made the score 1-0. Eusebio Lluis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edgardo Olayo, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. When Tony Melo came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Aguilas rojas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tony Melo couldn't finish the play. In the 29th minute, Tony Melo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Saul Ovando was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. After a rather tough play, Avellaneda's Patricio Viator got a free kick in the 32nd minute. Saul Ovando made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tony Melo in the 33rd minute. Tony Melo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Saul Ovando having to make a save. Avellaneda's Saul Ovando proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 37th minute of the match, managed to save Avellaneda from getting a goal against them. A collision led to Avellaneda getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Edgardo Olayo hit a great ball. Saul Ovando stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Olgierd Walaszkiewicz's shot from short distance in the 42nd minute.

Aguilas rojas's Tony Melo got a good chance for a goal in the 51st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Benicio Donio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 62nd minute, Avellaneda's Benicio Donio dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-1. Tony Melo might have been able to make a better finish in the 74th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Saul Ovando. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tony Melo ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 77th minute, Edgardo Olayo fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Eusebio Lluis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edgardo Olayo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Saul Ovando showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tony Melo, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. During the 86th minute of the match Patricio Viator completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Patricio Viator a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 87th match minute, Avellaneda was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Patricio Viator to maneuver through the defense. The audience was convinced that Tony Melo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Saul Ovando was relentless in the 88th minute of the game.
