After some careless play in the Arribeños Sur defense, Sidónio Candeias kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jose Caceres. The Arribeños Sur fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jose Caceres should have stopped the shot. Eduardo Beliran sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Arribeños Sur's Jose Caceres played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gaspar Pelayo in the 20th minute of play. The supporters of Arribeños Sur booed when Newell´s was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Haroldo Banegas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Newell´s's Jesus Gitano proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 26th minute of the match, managed to save Newell´s from getting a goal against them. But to his dismay, Eduardo Beliran quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. In the 91st minute, Wincent Sniegowski got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Harry Fristedt made a great header on Arribeños Sur's corner, it was just that Newell´s's Jesus Gitano managed to reach the ball for a save. The Arribeños Sur supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Newell´s's performance. The match ended with a win for Newell´s.
