After 4 played minutes Newell´s got a freekick which was hit by Amadeo Lizbeth. Cristobal Estavan made a fantastic save in the 11th minute, when Benito Belmiro sent off a good shot on target. In the 15th minute Vicente Marin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristobal Estavan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ruperto Serafo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 18th minute of the match, but Cristobal Estavan made a huge save. Newell´s's Ioan Agachi got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Newell´s's zone, Aurelio Blanco stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cristobal Estavan came out of the goal and Aurelio Blanco tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Indiana Turban in the 29th minute of play forced Matheu City FC's goalkeeper Celedonio Eguen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cristobal Estavan was a little too slow when Benito Belmiro got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 34th minute. The score was now 1-0. Cristobal Estavan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aurelio Blanco in the 38th minute of play. Matheu City FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Benito Belmiro in the 39th minute. The corner led Matheu City FC's Benito Belmiro to fire away a dangerous shot which Cristobal Estavan despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Vicente Marin kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Cristobal Estavan. That made the score 2-0 in the 42 minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Benito Belmiro was the one to do the kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Matheu City FC's Aurelio Blanco sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Cristobal Estavan narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Cristobal Estavan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vicente Marin, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. Cristobal Estavan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Benito Belmiro in the 59th minute of the match. 61 minutes into the match, Mattias Wallengren had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Celedonio Eguen. Matheu City FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mattias Wallengren was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. When the match had gone on for 64 minutes, Ruperto Serafo put it in 3-1 from a short distance just to the right of Cristobal Estavan. Newell´s's Indiana Turban quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Vicente Marin, made in the 68th minute of the game. In the 70th minute, Newell´s's Gonzalo Montier seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Gonzalo Montier the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Newell´s protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Gonzalo Montier had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Cristobal Estavan had in the 71stth minute some difficulties stopping Benito Belmiro's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. After some careless play in the Newell´s defense, Benito Belmiro kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Cristobal Estavan. The Newell´s fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cristobal Estavan should have stopped the shot. Cristobal Estavan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Benito Belmiro in the 78th minute of the match. 80 minutes into the match, Newell´s's goal looked a bit too open when Benito Belmiro came free, but Cristobal Estavan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cristobal Estavan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vicente Marin, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. With a little luck, Matheu City FC's Celedonio Eguen got control of the ball when Albano Bertol tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 96th minute Vicente Marin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristobal Estavan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Newell´s's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
