With a left leg Jesus Nuno saved DE LA SALLE from getting behind. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Albano Bertol during the 32nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of DE LA SALLE booed when Newell´s was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Albano Bertol didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Newell´s's Telis Anastasakis got a free kick in the 35th minute. 39 minutes into the match, Newell´s's goal looked a bit too open when Fabricio Txurio came free, but Cristobal Estavan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 40 played minutes Newell´s got a freekick which was hit by Fabian Iago. Mattias Wallengren's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jesus Nuno read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 43rd minute of play. In the 45th minute, Armando Mincho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to DE LA SALLE getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Guaberto Millano hit a great ball.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Benito Hermelando to make the kick off. After 52 minutes of play, Newell´s's Mattias Wallengren made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jesus Nuno was left in no man's land by his defense there! Jesus Nuno came out of the goal in the 55th minute to try and stop a shot by Newell´s's Ioan Agachi. But to his dismay, Ioan Agachi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-0. Jesus Nuno showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mattias Wallengren, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Jesus Nuno took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mattias Wallengren, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jesus Nuno made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mattias Wallengren in the 60th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mattias Wallengren in the 61st minute of play forced DE LA SALLE's goalkeeper Jesus Nuno to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jesus Nuno stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ioan Agachi's shot from short distance in the 63rd minute. When the match clock showed 64 minutes, the score became 5-0 when Mattias Wallengren sped through DE LA SALLE's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Jesus Nuno. Ioan Agachi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Jesus Nuno tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee felt a red card was in order, 73 minutes into the game, when Armando Mincho put in a rough tackle.
