In the 11th minute, Elias Eguntsenti hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 12th minute Milton Melgar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristobal Estavan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gilmar Coelho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mattias Wallengren in the 13th minute of play. 16 minutes into the match, Newell´s's goalkeeper Cristobal Estavan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lázaro Boniel. Gilmar Coelho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mattias Wallengren in the 17th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lázaro Boniel got free with Cristobal Estavan in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Newell´s's Cristobal Estavan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save Newell´s from getting a goal against them. Gonzalo Montier tried in the game's 20th match minute to clear up in front of his own goal but it went so bad that he put the ball into the goal to the left of an unhappy Cristobal Estavan. An annoying self made goal, 1-1. Anton Grigoroiu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Milton Melgar's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cristobal Estavan read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 44th minute of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Milton Melgar stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anton Grigoroiu in the 78th minute of play forced Newell´s's goalkeeper Cristobal Estavan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Milton Melgar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristobal Estavan having to interfere. Gilmar Coelho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ioan Agachi, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. A collision led to Supay Puka Huasi FC getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Milton Melgar hit a great ball. 91 minutes into the match, Mattias Wallengren notched a goal, 1-4, to the right of Supay Puka Huasi FC's Gilmar Coelho. Gilmar Coelho was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
