SAN MARTIN MZA's goalie prevented a goal. In the 5th minute of the match Lanús got a corner. C.A. SAN MARTIN MZA's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Jake Hursey ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Rabelani Thebile got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Ubaldo Teofilio quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 8th minute of the match Lanús got a corner. C.A. SAN MARTIN MZA's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Jake Hursey ran over to the corner to take the kick. Roberto Puch took the ball and in the 10 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ubaldo Teofilio. Ubaldo Teofilio dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Lanús's Manuel Neuer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Bazán in the 13th minute of play. When the match clock showed 16 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Roberto Puch sped through C.A. SAN MARTIN MZA's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Ubaldo Teofilio. 19 minutes into the match, Lanús's Roberto Puch sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ubaldo Teofilio narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Roberto Puch struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Ubaldo Teofilio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lanús. Manuel Neuer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Baldomero Oriche, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Ubaldo Teofilio didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Roberto Puch went, in the 27th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. Manuel Neuer stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Baldomero Oriche's shot from short distance in the 31st minute. The C.A. SAN MARTIN MZA fans' excitement grew in the 31st match minute when C.A. SAN MARTIN MZA's Baldomero Oriche looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After 33 minutes, Roberto Puch mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Lanús and the C.A. SAN MARTIN MZA players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 34 played minutes Lanús got a freekick which was hit by Roberto Puch. 35 minutes into the match, Lanús's goal looked a bit too open when Ulises Evangelista came free, but Manuel Neuer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. C.A. SAN MARTIN MZA's Ubaldo Teofilio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Roberto Puch in the 36th minute of play. Manuel Neuer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Baldomero Oriche in the 38th minute of the match. Ubaldo Teofilio was a little too slow when Roberto Puch got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 44th minute. The score was now 5-1. Manuel Neuer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Bazán, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 5-1 at half-time.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Roberto Puch to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in C.A. SAN MARTIN MZA's zone, Roberto Puch stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ubaldo Teofilio came out of the goal and Roberto Puch tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Lanús booed when C.A. SAN MARTIN MZA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Daniel Bazán didn't get a good kick on the ball. C.A. SAN MARTIN MZA's Ubaldo Teofilio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rabelani Thebile in the 54th minute of play. In the 56th minute, Rabelani Thebile hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 59th match minute, C.A. SAN MARTIN MZA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ximenes Montemayor to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 66 minutes, Roberto Puch managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lanús's supporters crossed their fingers, but Roberto Puch was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Roberto Puch sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Manuel Neuer made an important save on a dangerous shot by Armando Miccio in the 73rd minute. After some careless play in the C.A. SAN MARTIN MZA defense, Roberto Puch kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ubaldo Teofilio. The C.A. SAN MARTIN MZA fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ubaldo Teofilio should have stopped the shot. Lanús were awarded a corner in the 84th minute after C.A. SAN MARTIN MZA's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Jake Hursey took the corner. The corner led to Lanús's Ladislao Barros getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Roberto Puch took the ball and in the 92 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ubaldo Teofilio. Ubaldo Teofilio dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 7-1. With an all-out effort, C.A. SAN MARTIN MZA's Manuel Neuer threw himself towards the right post 95 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Daniel Bazán, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Lanús fans cheered their team off the field, for while C.A. SAN MARTIN MZA had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
