After taking down the ball on Juniors FC's corner Moises Ubarna fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Wieslaw Panasewicz quite easily take care of the ball. In the 20th minute, Nicanor Porfirio left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Juniors FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Uriel Isias might have been able to make a better finish in the 26th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Wieslaw Panasewicz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Uriel Isias ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience thought a goal was coming when Reynaldo Montrelle got free with Lázaro Colon in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 31 minutes into the match, Juniors FC's goalkeeper Lázaro Colon had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Reynaldo Montrelle. Reynaldo Montrelle might have been able to make a better finish in the 33rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Lázaro Colon. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Reynaldo Montrelle ran back to his position shaking his head. With a little luck, Juniors FC's Lázaro Colon got control of the ball when Reynaldo Montrelle tried to sneak it across the goal line. 35 minutes into the match, Uriel Isias had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Wieslaw Panasewicz. Abdel Karim Santirso blasted a shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Lázaro Colon having to make a save. After the first half Juniors FC were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Gimnasia y tiro's Giorgi Lekov was substituted for Francis MacAlister. The wind increased when Uriel Isias made the kick off in the second half. If Luciano Mouricio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 57 minutes into the match, Gimnasia y tiro's goal looked a bit too open when Uriel Isias came free, but Wieslaw Panasewicz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Gimnasia y tiro getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Luisito Eguntsenti hit a great ball. When Moises Ubarna came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Juniors FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Moises Ubarna couldn't finish the play. After having played for 82 minutes, Uriel Isias managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Juniors FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Uriel Isias was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Juniors FC made a substitution. Wlodzimierz Lepper replaced Moises Ubarna. Lázaro Colon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abdel Karim Santirso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Virgilio Satordi kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. In the 88th minute Abdel Karim Santirso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lázaro Colon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 90 minutes of play, Gimnasia y tiro's Abdel Karim Santirso made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Lázaro Colon was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpected shot in the 93rd minute by Emiliano Boni got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side.
