Genaro Quiroga showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pepe Argento in the 4th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Sαηgrε Azuɭ defense, Romulo Casado kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Luciano Ferran. The Sαηgrε Azuɭ fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Luciano Ferran should have stopped the shot. Through an outstanding action, after 16 minutes, Luciano Ferran successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. With an all-out effort, River Plate's Luciano Ferran threw himself towards the right post 16 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Romulo Casado, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. River Plate's Genaro Quiroga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pepe Argento in the 17th minute of play. Sαηgrε Azuɭ's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Romulo Casado 21 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-0. In the 35th minute, River Plate's Romulo Casado ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Luciano Ferran. Luciano Ferran yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-0. Luciano Ferran made a fantastic save in the 43rd minute, when Romulo Casado sent off a good shot on target. In the 45th minute, Lionel-Andrés Messias left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Sαηgrε Azuɭ fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. After a defensive mix-up in River Plate's zone, Lionel-Andrés Messias stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Genaro Quiroga came out of the goal and Lionel-Andrés Messias tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Lionel-Andrés Messias to strike the kick off in the second half. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Romulo Casado in the 54th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Luciano Ferran prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Genaro Quiroga showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lionel-Andrés Messias, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. In the 64th minute, Artemio Nesto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luciano Ferran came out of the goal in the 65th minute to try and stop a shot by River Plate's Romulo Casado. But to his dismay, Romulo Casado quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-1. Pepe Argento received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Genaro Quiroga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. River Plate's Godfredo Rioja was substituted for Eleuterio Efraim. In the 76th minute, Gilberto Eneas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 77 played minutes Sαηgrε Azuɭ got a freekick which was hit by Gilberto Eneas. In the 80th minute, Lionel-Andrés Messias hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Romulo Casado sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Lionel-Andrés Messias might have been able to make a better finish in the 83rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Genaro Quiroga. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lionel-Andrés Messias ran back to his position shaking his head. Genaro Quiroga took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adrian Orzaize, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. River Plate's Genaro Quiroga proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 86th minute of the match, managed to save River Plate from getting a goal against them. River Plate's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
