The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Belchior Saldanha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Victoriano Tonete, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 7 minutes into the match, La Gallardeta's goal looked a bit too open when Leopoldo Cesaro came free, but Belchior Saldanha reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Benedicto Medero kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. After 11 played minutes, La Gallardeta's Vintilă Guriță shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Eugenio Asier came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in La Gallardeta reached it. In the 13thth minute of the game Victoriano Tonete who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but La Gallardeta's Belchior Saldanha was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 13 minutes, Victoriano Tonete made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. La Gallardeta's Belchior Saldanha tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Clemente Anaya in the 16th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Eugenio Asier saved CERPA from getting behind. La Gallardeta's Belchior Saldanha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leopoldo Cesaro in the 18th minute of play. Jan-Olof Eliasson might have been able to make a better finish in the 22nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Eugenio Asier. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jan-Olof Eliasson ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 28th minute of the match, Jan-Olof Eliasson got a very nice opportunity to score, but Eugenio Asier was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 29th minute Clemente Anaya shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eugenio Asier saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 35th minute Leopoldo Cesaro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Belchior Saldanha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Clemente Anaya to strike the kick off in the second half. Jan-Olof Eliasson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Eugenio Asier tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Belchior Saldanha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mauricio Macías, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. Clemente Anaya's late challenge caught a CERPA's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Clemente Anaya helped the player get up and apologised. In the 65th minute, Clemente Anaya hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. La Gallardeta's Wilfred Vrede was substituted for Jan-Olof Eliasson. CERPA made a substitution. Efrain Roldan replaced Mauricio Macías. In the 66th match minute, La Gallardeta was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Clemente Anaya to maneuver through the defense. La Gallardeta's Belchior Saldanha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Efrain Roldan in the 67th minute of play. Efrain Roldan didn't have the luck on his side when he, from a short distance, got a opportunity for a shot on goal in the 67th minute. The shot missed the goal on the right side and Efrain Roldan ran dejectedly back to his position. 68 minutes into the game, Wilfred Vrede was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. La Gallardeta's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave CERPA the free kick. In the 69th minute, Wilfred Vrede hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. La Gallardeta made a substitution. Simon Roldan replaced Bragan McPhil. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wilfred Vrede in the 78th minute of play forced CERPA's goalkeeper Eugenio Asier to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Eugenio Asier made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilfred Vrede in the 90th minute of play. If Wilfred Vrede had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, La Gallardeta's Belchior Saldanha got control of the ball when Victoriano Tonete tried to sneak it across the goal line. Many of CERPA's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. CERPA may have spent more time on the ball, but La Gallardeta were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
