Carlos Quentin yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. In the 19th minute Gaudencio Abaunza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Quentin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Carlos Quentin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Han Di, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Victorio Hondo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gaudencio Abaunza in the 29th minute of play forced Pincha FC's goalkeeper Carlos Quentin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 33 minutes into the match, Pincha FC's goalkeeper Carlos Quentin had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Han Di. The audience thought a goal was coming when Han Di got free with Carlos Quentin in the 45th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Marcial Roldanillo to make the kick off.
