After 17 played minutes, Kanjiža OFK's Velimir Tomčić shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Milovan Šorgić came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Kanjiža OFK reached it. Milovan Šorgić showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Srboljub Prolić in the 18th minute of the match. Vasilije Pavićević succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 22nd playminute. 25 minutes into the game, Stevan Milinić was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. In the 41st minute, Srboljub Prolić made a precise shot to the right of Milovan Šorgić. Bačko Gradište's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. Ljubo Kocić made a fantastic save in the 44th minute, when Vasilije Pavićević sent off a good shot on target. In the 47th minute, Vasilije Pavićević ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ljubo Kocić was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-2. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-2 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Srboljub Prolić to make the kick off. In the 54th minute, Mirko Dujaković made a precise shot to the right of Ljubo Kocić. Kanjiža OFK's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-2. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mirko Dujaković in the 57th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ljubo Kocić prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Krsto Čvorkov hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. Mirko Dujaković sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Velimir Stojadinović might have been able to make a better finish in the 63rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Milovan Šorgić. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. When Velimir Tomčić came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Kanjiža OFK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Velimir Tomčić couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Bačko Gradište's Radoman Brajušković got a free kick in the 68th minute. The supporters of Kanjiža OFK booed when Bačko Gradište was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vasilije Pavićević didn't get a good kick on the ball.
