Romney Brinkman's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edmyg Crittall read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 10th minute of play. Llyr Hussey was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 12th minute. Bridgend's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 13th minute, Keith Fishbourne managed to get in a good position for a shot. Bridgend's supporters rose to their feet, but Keith Fishbourne was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Barri Coneely breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Llyr Hussey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Keith Fishbourne kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Barri Coneely. In the 21st minute Cedric Gillam shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edmyg Crittall saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Barri Coneely showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Keith Fishbourne, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. Barri Coneely made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Keith Fishbourne in the 32nd minute of play. Beven Farr charged in rather forcefully in the 36th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Beven Farr the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Beven Farr hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. Llyr Hussey fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Barri Coneely having to interfere. Llyr Hussey struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Barri Coneely didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bridgend. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.
